Jackie Andrew Nettles

Mr. Jackie Andrew Nettles, 74, of Goose Creek, SC, died Saturday, August 30, 2014, in Charleston, SC. Born in Walterboro, He was the son of the late A.F. Nettles, Jr. and Vera C. Nettles. He graduated from Walterboro High School and attended Mars Hill College on a football scholarship. Jack retired from Alcoa after working for over twenty years. He was an avid bass fisherman and golfer. Jack was a member of many fishing clubs and loved Clemson University Jackie is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Margaret Ann Nettles of Goose Creek, daughter; Lyn Nettles of Summerville; Son-In-Law, Shawn Shelters of Goose Creek; Grand-daughter, Samantha Shelters both of Goose Creek; family friend, Jo Dar Steele, Brothers; Kenneth Nettles and wife Cindy of Columbia and Ronnie Nettles and wife Cindy of Walterboro. Jackie is predeceased by his daughter, Laura “Tina” Shelters. Funeral service will be held on Monday, September 1, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. in MCALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, GOOSE CREEK CHAPEL. Burial will be held in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Walterboro at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends prior to service from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
