Jack A. Despins

Jack A. Despins, 68, of Cross, passed away December 25, 2013. Born in Battle Creek, MI, he was the son of the late Garold and Maxine Despins and husband to Carol Despins. Jack served in the United States Navy and later worked as a commercial diver, welder and over the road truck driver. He was a member of Goose Creek Masonic Lodge, #401, Dorchester Shrine Club and HAM Radio Operator Group (K4PFC). Mr. Despins loved to cook, fish, shrimp, gardening and hunt. He was a Therapy Dog handler and enjoyed visiting hospitals and nursing homes with “Zippy”. He is survived by his wife, Carol Despins; three children, Karen, Teresa and Nikia; sister, MaryJane Thacker and husband Richard. Jack is also survived by many grandchildren, extended family members and friends. Memorial service will be held Saturday, January 4, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in MCALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, GOOSE CREEK CHAPEL.
