Irene R Darling

Irene R. Darling, 74, of Goose Creek, SC, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, July 19, 2017.
Born in Somerville, MA to the late William and Mary Melendy. Irene’s husband Bruce of 23 years was a U.S. Navy veteran and was able to move his family briefly to Hawaii and Washington before making Goose Creek their home. He was the love of her life. After his passing in 1987, she started her own ceramic shop, “Little Darlings” and also worked at Wal-Mart for many years until her retirement. She will be remembered as being spirited, loving, and thoughtful, always remembering the small details to brighten someone’s day.
Survivors include her children, Robin Barrow of Goose Creek, Bruce Darling and his wife Lana of Summerville, Holly Arrington and her husband Corey of Goose Creek, Allan Darling of Goose Creek; grandchildren, Billy, Kelley, Taylor, Emily, Ashlynne, and Daniel; and brother, Bobby Melendy
Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her husband Bruce H. Darling and her sister, Mary Jane Blanco.
A Celebration of Irene’s life will be held Sunday, July 23, 2017 at 4:00 PM at McALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, GOOSE CREEK CHAPEL. The family will receive friends for one hour prior at the funeral home. A graveside service to be buried next to her husband will be held Monday, July 24, 2017, 11:00 AM, at Beaufort National Cemetery.
