Irene Clair Flynn, 93, of Salisbury, NC, passed away on May 19, 2018 at Genesis Nursing Home in Salisbury, NC.
She was born on December 8, 1924 in Concord, NH, daughter of the late Catherine Dawson Crand and the late John Crand.
Irene traveled the country and the world with her husband during his 30-year military career. Wherever she traveled, she devoted time to others as a volunteer for organizations such as the Red Cross, The Officer's Wives Club, The Military Council of Catholic Women, The Normandy Heights Community Hospitality Committee, The XVIII Airborne Corps Thrift Shop, local hospitals and nurseries, and many, more. She loved people and made countless friends throughout her life, maintaining those friendships no matter where her travels took her. She had a passion for bridge and loved to play it with her friends. Besides her parents, Irene is preceded in death by her husband, Alan Flynn, her brothers Thomas Crand and John Crand, and her grandchild, Joseph Flynn.
She is survived by her sons: Michael Flynn of Mundelein, Il, Steve Flynn of Weston, Ct, and David Flynn of Salisbury, NC. She is also survived by her siblings Catherine Crand, Richard Crand, Robert Crand, and David Crand and grandchildren: Georgia Flynn, Troy Flynn, Maggie Flynn, Tim Flynn, A.J. Flynn, and Rachel Flynn.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM, on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at Christ our King Catholic Church, 1149 Russell Drive, Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Memorial Gardens.
