Ioannis "John" Koutsounadis, 66, of Goose Creek, SC husband of Maria Koutsounadis of 31 years, passed away in his wife's arms on December 15, 2021 surrounded by his loving family.
Ioannis was born in Greece on August 2, 1955, the son of the late Ilias I. Koutsounadis and Venetia Prelias Koutsounadis.
Ioannis loved music and was gifted to play many instruments and had a beautiful voice. He also enjoyed soccer, playing as a young boy and throughout his life, playing and watching was one of his favorite past times. He was very devoted to his wife. After owning a restaurant for many years he couldn't wait to go back to driving his ice cream truck and selling ice cream to all the kids in the various Summerville and Goose Creek subdivisions. This brought him great joy.
In addition to his wife Maria, he is survived by one sister, Vivi Mamounas (Demitris) of Brooklyn, New York. Two nephews, Stamatis and Ilias Mamounas of Brooklyn, New York. Ioannis was very close to his wife's family, nieces and nephews. Also surviving are many additional relatives, cousins and friends.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, December 19, 2021 from 4pm to 6pm with a Wake Service to be held at 5pm at Holy Trinity Greek Othodox Church, 30 Race Street, Charleston, SC 29403. A funeral service will follow on Monday, December 20, 2021 at 11am at Holy Trinity Greek Othodox Church. Interment will follow at Live Oak Memorial Gardens, Hwy 61, West Ashley. Makaria will be held immediately following the burial at Holy Trinity Greek Othodox Church.
