Howard Ronald "Ron" Lovejoy

Ronald Lovejoy, 91 of Charleston, South Carolina, passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2024.

Born on November 18, 1933, in Washington, DC, Ron was the oldest son of (the late) Mildred Lovejoy (Hicks) and Howard Lovejoy.

Married in 1961 to Andrea (Downin), Ron was a business owner, investor and collector, painter and sculptor, landscape designer and builder. He also served in the Army, stationed in Alaska during the Korean War.

Ron and Andrea were active residents of Washington, DC, Annapolis and Deale MD, Cape May, NJ and Charleston, SC.

Together their lives embraced the worlds of jazz, museums & galleries, art & antiques, gardening & boating, history & literature, and travel abroad. Creating and sharing a legacy of beauty and love that inspired all who knew them — and all who will encounter Ron's work for generations to come.

Ron is survived by his wife Andrea Lovejoy of Charleston and his brother Gary Lovejoy of Washington.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Department of Visual Arts at Trident Technical College in furtherance of Ron and Andrea’s support of that program. Donations can be made online or mailed to the TTC Foundation, P.O. Box 61227, Charleston, SC 29419.
