Homer Lee Deboard, 86, of Goose Creek, passed away October 1, 2016. Born in Franklin, TX, he was the son of the late John and Eller Deboard and husband to the late Alice Margaret Deboard. Homer served his country in the United States Navy, retiring as a Petty Officer. After his service in the Navy, he worked as a driver for Weatherol Trucking. Homer was a member of Midway Baptist Church. Mr. Deboard enjoyed listening to country music, watching the Rodeo, playing bingo, hunting, fishing and loved children. He is survived by his children, Karen Smith of Texas, Shirley Alexander of Texas, Debbie Deboard of Texas, John DeBoard and wife Pamela of Goose Creek; step children, Roger Howell and wife Sylvia of Norfolk, VA, Michael Howell of Las Vegas, NV, Delilah Register and husband Rodney of Virginia and Faye Swem and husband Roy of Virginia. Mr. Deboard is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in MCALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, GOOSE CREEK CHAPEL. Burial will military honors will follow in Plantation Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends prior to service from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
