Hester “Bobbie†Huffman Livingston, 89, of Charleston and widow of the late John Ashe Livingston, passed away Saturday, January 14, 2017. Bobbie Livingston was born on June 12, 1927 in Roanoke, VA to the late Myrtie and Calvin Huffman. She was a homemaker, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and served as bookkeeper for her family’s business. Bobbie was a past president of North Charleston Elementary School PTA and was a member of Martin Luther Lutheran Church and James Island Christian Church. She volunteered her time for the Race for the Cure and the Bridge Run. She enjoyed cooking, spending time with family and friends and babysitting her great-grandchildren. Her family will remember her as self-sacrificing and everyone who knew her said she was a loving angel. Survivors include her daughter, Madelene L. Viohl; grandchildren, Ashley V. Stone (Jeff), John Ashe Livingston III, and Lindsay E. Livingston; and great-grandchildren, Ryan Z. Stone and Sarah A. Stone. In addition to her husband, Bobbie was preceded in death by her sons, John Ashe Livingston, Jr and James C. Livingston and her 11 brothers and sisters. The family would like to especially thank Bobbie’s caregivers Sandi Anderson, Ida Conyers and Mary Ellen Robinson and all the wonderful people at Bishop Gadsden. A Celebration of her Life will be held at 12 Noon on Friday, January 20, 2017 at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, James Island Chapel with burial to follow in Holy Cross Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at 11 AM at the funeral home.
