Henry Hamilton Hardy, 79 of Folly Beach, South Carolina, passed away on Friday, April 19, 2024.
Born on August 28, 1944 in Augusta, GA, Henry was a son of the late Lamar Edward and Athalee Olivia (Gross) Hardy.
Born a true southern gentleman, Henry lived life every day to its absolute fullest. His accomplishments started in his youth being awarded best high school spirit, captain of the football team, and president of his fraternity. He moved through his early years and quickly enlisted in the Army where he served in Vietnam. If you didn’t get to know him on the dance floor, at the beach, or building homes in the low country, you could always find him looking for the adrenaline raising and heart pounding activities such as sky-diving, racing cars, driving boats in circles with skiers and tubers on the back, skiing down a mountain, climbing out of a canyon, zip-lining in the forests of Costa Rica, cheering on his Carolina Gamecocks or road biking all over town.
As most will know, Henry never met a stranger. He was able to connect with anyone he met instantly with his vivacious passion for life and ability to care for all around him. Amazingly, he still stayed connected with friends from high school, college and far beyond. He created over 30 beautiful years of life on the serene waters of Oak Island, moving into his beloved Bridgeside apartments where he bonded with so many, and finishing out his days on Johns Island with his granddaughters. If you caught him out walking the dog, he was able to make a lasting impact with just his smile and friendly demeanor.
Henry is preceded in death by his parents, Lamar Edward and Athalee Olivia (Gross) Hardy, wife, Cheryl Lynn Poole Hardy, and daughter Lillian Hardy Toy.
Henry is survived by a son, William Hamilton Hardy, two daughters, Shannon Hardy Phelps and Olivia Mattison Hardy, granddaughters Freya Rhiannon Phelps, Phoenix Love Phelps, Jordan Alexis Hardy, Reagan Amelia Hardy, Logan Alise Hardy, and Cooper Davis Toy.
