Hazel Koelsch Shumaker
July 19, 1937 — November 8, 2017
Mrs. Hazel Shumaker, 80, of James Island, SC, left this earth to join her husband Gene on Wednesday, November 8, 2017.
Born to the late Henry Koelsch and the late Jeannette Reynolds Koelsch, Hazel retired from Harris Teeter where she was a cake designer for many years. Prior to moving to Charleston, she worked at Fluid Chemical in New Jersey.
Survivors include a daughter, Patti Blanchette and husband Robert of New Jersey, 2 sons, Gene Shumaker and wife Wanda of Charleston and Tom Shumaker and Laura of New Jersey, 6 grandchildren, Jeffrey Drews of Charleston, Jessica Blanchette, Nicole Brocklebank of New Jersey, Kevin, Steven and Melanie Shumaker of New Jersey; her niece Carol Burns and nephews, Billy and Charlie Koelsch, and James Brokaw of New Jersey and Jerry Brokaw of Travelers Rest, SC.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter Cathy Lomas.
A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, November 16, 2017 at 3pm at her home, 1013 Oak Crest Drive Charleston, SC 29412.
