Harold Frederick 'Butch' Blish Jr.

Harold Frederick “Butch” Blish, Jr., 67, husband of Donna Blish, of Charleston, passed away Monday, September 19, 2016. Butch was born on September 9, 1949 in Charleston, SC to the late Harold Frederick Blish, Sr. and the late Mary Bischoff Blish. He retired as a mail carrier from the US Postal Service after 36 years. He enjoyed cruising, video games and spending time with his family. He will be remembered for his years of loving service in “Papa Daycare” where he rocked, napped and changed diapers for his beloved grandchildren and his great-nephew. In addition to his wife of 45 years, he is survived by 2 daughters, Carrie Brownewell (Jason), Erin Ray (James), both of Charleston; 4 grandchildren, Reagan, Isaac and Harrison Brownewell and Mary Ray; his sister, Theresa Rushton (Phil) of Charleston; sister-in-law, Teresa Ivey (Dickie); 3 nieces, Angie Blish Parris, Laura Rushton and Christina Feusse and 1 nephew, Tony Bulleman and 1 great-niece and nephew, Kailynn and Dylan. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister Theda Blish. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3pm on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Martin Luther Lutheran Church, 1605 Harbor View Rd, Charleston, SC 29412. The family will receive friends from 5-7pm on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, James Island Chapel.
