Horace Arnold Haas, 90, of Charleston, SC died on Friday, February 20, 2015. He was born on Monday, March 17, 1924 in Charlotte, NC to the late Vada Laxton and the late Horace Albert Haas. Arnold loved his family, his church. his country and his Exchange Club. He served as an elder at First (Scots) Presbyterian Church, and was treasurer of the Charleston Atlantic Presbytery for forty-three years. Arnold enjoyed serving as president of the Charleston Exchange Club of which he was a member for over fifty years. He served as controller of Coburg Dairy from 1961 until retirement. Arnold also served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. His family remembers him as a loving husband, father, grand father and friend. He is survived by one son Col. (Ret) J Michael Haas (Ginger), of Salem, SC; and one daughter, Dr. Anne H Dukes(Bob), of Charleston, SC; four grandchildren, Catherine Gillespie (Joshua), Thomas Haas, Robert Dukes (Heather), and Jeffrey Dukes, and four great grandchildren, and loving nieces, nephews and many friends. He was predeceased by his parents, loving wife of 64 years, Carolyn Haas, and his brother, Donald Haas. A Memorial Service will be held at First (Scots) Presbyterian Church, 53 Meeting Street, Charleston, SC 29401, on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Dr. Daniel Massie officiating. In lieu of flowers Memorial donations may be made in his memory to First (Scots) Presbyterian Church, 53 Meeting St., Charleston, SC 29401, or the Charleston Exchange Club.
