On Monday, August 29, 2022 Johann Alwin Gunther (John) Neumann passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family.
Gunther was born July 2, 1937 in Erlangen, Germany to Marie Rauch and Robert Max Karl Emil Neumann.
Preceded in death by step-fathers Ernest Fink and George Fink and twin sister Liesel Nielsen.
Gunther is survived by his wife, Carol Neumann, sister Uda Grenz (Minnesota) and brother Dick Fink (Arizona). He is also survived by his children Elnora (Kurt) Amstead, Johanna (Jim) Hardin, Christian (Kinga) Neumann, George (Christine) Neumann, Gerda Vohs, Robert (Heather) Neumann, David Neumann, Mark (Leah) Tipton and Robert (Erin) Tipton, 18 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
He is a retired Navy veteran and worked at Trident Regional Hospital and Dupont and part time at College Park Elementary School, Sun Dial Services and Lowcountry Ace Hardware store. He was a member of the Caromi Fire Department Board, Life Member of VFW Goose Creek, SC Post 10256 and served as Deacon at Tall Pine Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Tall Pines Baptist Church, 645 Treeland Drive, Ladson, SC 29456. Per his wishes there will be no funeral service. However, a Life Celebration Service will be held on Friday, September 2nd at 11 am at Tall Pines Baptist Church.
