Gregory Paul Mecchi, 68, husband of Linda Ferry Mecchi , of Seabrook Island, SC, died peacefully on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. He was born on Friday, March 1, 1946 in Oakland, CA to the late Kenneth Irving and Ruth Louise Moran Mecchi. Greg was a consulting nuclear engineer, owner and operator of The Right Company Inc. He previously served 10 years in the United States Navy as a Machinist Mate Chief on nuclear submarines, including service during the Vietnam War. He served aboard the USS Flasher and the USS James K. Polk and several surface craft. Greg was a car and boat enthusiast, and he liked Formula One race cars. His dog 'Bohicket' was dear to his heart. The church was a large part of his life, and he was a devout Christian. He is survived by his wife of 42 years; his children Lauren Pearce and her husband Cory, of Charleston, SC and Shawn Mecchi and his fiancé Riannon Griffing, of West Hartford, CT. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 3:00 PM, at Calvary Chapel of the Sea Isles, 3546 Maybank Highway, Johns Island, SC 29455 with pastor Paul Charles officiating.
