Gordon Wayne " Gordy " Richardson, 88, of Isle of Palms, husband of Claire Marie (Dick) Richardson of 65 years, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, February 17, 2022, surrounded by his family.
Born on December 17, 1933, in Seattle, Washington, to the late Harold Lincoln Richardson and Dorothy (Hennessey) Richardson.
In addition to his wife, Gordy is survived by his brother Harold Richardson (Irene); daughter, Marie Hoffman (Michael); his sons, Wayne Richardson (Katie) and Keith Richardson, grandchildren Alison (Rich), Carolyn, Mark, Lawrence (Shelby), Austin and Boston. Gordy is predeceased by his son, Clark Richardson.
Gordy graduated from Lincoln HS where he won an essay contest for a trip to the Far East. He then graduated from the University of Washington, majoring in business. He was in ROTC and served in the Navy for 4 years as a pilot achieving the rank of Lieutenant. He joined IBM, Jantzen and Nation Bank in Portland, OR, Spent 23 years with Imperial Reading in Lynchburg, VA and 23 years in Seattle with Brittania Sportswear Ltd., while building his own software development business.
He and his family traveled extensively, camping in the northwest, southeast and Europe. He and Claire traveled with friends on Safari in Kenya (climbing Kilimanjaro), Egypt, Jordon, Alaska, Eastern and Western Europe, Greece, South America, Russia and Scandinavia. His favorite times were on his boat in San Juan islands and Canada with friends and family, catching dungeness crab.
He is remembered for his intelligence, kindness, sense of humor, respect for all and love of family.
