Gerald Dean Olson

Gerald Dean Olson, 73, of Summerville, SC passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2024.

Born on March 30, 1951 in Haxtun, Colorado, he was the son of the late Jane Blake Olson and the late Aubrey Olson.

Gerald proudly served 20 years in the US Navy. He retired from the Navy in 1991 as an E-7. He served on the USS Sturgeon submarine. He was a member of the local Boy Scouts of America troop 459 leadership in the late 1980's. After retiring from the military, he was also a security guard for multiple agencies for many years. In his free time Gerald enjoyed playing on his computer, watching Sci-Fi movies, and spending time with family and friends.

Gerald is preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Sarah Race (Mitch); and his brothers, Lloyd and Roger Olson.

Gerald is survived by his brothers, Tommy Olson (Juanita), Richard Olson, Duane Olson, Jay Olson, and Rusty Olson (Michelle) and his sisters, Nancie Anderson (Jack), Connie Helus (Daniel), Joyce Krueger (Nolan), and Wilma Soukup (Joe).

Gerald is also survived by his Son, David Tanguay (Sheryll); his 3 grandchildren, Roxanne Floyd (Matthew), Ashley Wallick (Jason), and Bradley Tanguay; and his 2 great grandchildren, Cayden Fischer and Ava Tanguay. Gerald also has many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 3, 2024 from 10:00AM - 11:00AM at McAlister-Smith Funeral & Cremation, 869 St. James Ave., Goose Creek, SC 29445.

The service will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2024 at 11:00AM at McAlister-Smith Funeral & Cremation, 869 St. James Ave., Goose Creek, SC 29445. The burial will be held at Carolina Memorial Gardens in North Charleston, SC.
