Georgia Marseenia Barfield was born on October 7, 1952 in Charleston, SC. She was the daughter of Michael James, and Leona Howard Mellis (Kowhoumelis).
Georgia attended Murray Vocation School, and Farah's Beauty College. She was a member of Cathedral of Praise in North Charleston.
She will be sincerely remembered and is survived by Rudolph (Rudy) Julius Barfield of Charleston, SC; three sons, Joseph Michael Barfield, Sr. of Charleston, SC, Julius Clinton Barfield of Charleston, SC and Gary Ray Barfield of Charleston, SC; seven grandchildren, Joseph M Barfield, Jr. of Charleston, SC, James Clinton Barfield of Fairhaven MS, Betty (Marina) Weatherford of Eutawville SC, Caitlynn Darrell Beaudrot of Charleston SC, Hailey Marseenia Barfield of Charleston SC, Cara Lynn Cook of Charleston SC and Gary Steven Barfield of Charleston SC three great grandchildren, Carlee Barfield, Emma Grace Shumpert and Enzo Elias Jones.
Georgia wrote: "To the mother of my grandchildren and great grandchildren, thank you for letting me see a piece of the past, you'll always be with me and in my heart. One brother, Spero Mellis of Charleston SC, and my two deceased brothers, George James Mellis in heaven and Mike Mellis in heaven; four sisters Crissie (Christina) Owens in heaven, Gwendalyn (Laney) Merinkers in heaven, Olga Chorba in heaven and Viola Dewitt of Georgetown SC; numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. Forever and all the children of God. I was the last and the last for agreat time, love, by the grace of God, the blood of Jesus and the power of the Holy Spirt that is within me, my faith has made me whole. Nothing missing, nothing broken. Thank You."
