George Powell Busch, 90, of Mount Pleasant, joined his heavenly Father on November 19, 2019, surrounded by his family.
Born on November 10, 1929 in Knightsville, George (Powell) was the son of the late Henry Edmond Busch and the late Henrietta Elizabeth Busch.
George was a loving minister of God serving His people through the SC United Methodist Conference for 21 years. God called him to go into the Education field and teach Special Education for 19 years. George loved his family very much and always encouraged them to continue their education and love of God. George enjoyed learning also and continued on to received his Master's Degree. He volunteered with Meals on Wheels, working at the voting polls, teaching Sunday School, assisting with Church activities, working in the church office, visiting shut-ins and the sick, singing in the choir, working with the Spoletto and Piccalo and going to musical concerts. He loved his birds, his niece's pound cakes and candy.
George is survived by his daughter, Sharon Gritten of Summerville, his children's mother, Wincey Busch, 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. George is predeceased by a baby boy(1956), Gail B. Scott, daughter,(2007), George P Busch, Jr, son (2018), Maggie B Grooms, sister(1987), Lurena B Hiers, sister (1991), Martin, brother (1915), Woodrow, brother (1977), Joseph, brother(2002), Clifton, brother (1986), Henrietta, sister (2005) and Ralph, brother (2007).
The family will receive friends on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at 5:00 PM at McAlister-Smith Funeral & Cremation.
The service will be held at Friday, November 22, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Bethel United Methodist Church. The burial will be held at Bethany Cemetery at 10 Cunnington Ave, Charleston, SC 29405 and a Masonic Service immediately following .
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in George`s memory may be sent to the Alzheimer or Cancer organizations .
