Chief George E. Tittle, Jr. of James Island, SC, went home to be with his Lord, on Tuesday, December 19, 2017. George was born in Charleston, SC to the late Betty Jean Jamison and the late George E. Tittle, Sr. He was a graduate of Chicora High School, Baptist College, South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy, and the National FBI Academy in Quantico, Virginia. He served in the US Air Force and later became a police officer and served with Charleston County Police Department, Charleston County Sheriff’s Office, and was the Director of Public Safety (Chief of Police and Fire) for the City of Folly Beach for 21 years, where he was loved and admired by the community. After his retirement, he served as a State Constable for the last 5 years of his life. Chief Tittle was a caring and loving man that loved his family and community and had a passion for helping others. He is survived by his loving wife Marsha Tittle (Marti) of 49 years, 4 sons, Paul Tittle (Deanna), Ron Sullivan (Sharon), Mark Tittle (Crystal) Adam Tittle (Bethie), and one daughter, Amie Tittle-Baker (Philip), 18 grandchildren and 4 great-grands. He is preceded in death by 3 brothers, James Berry, Andy Berry, Daniel Tittle, and 1 sister, Patricia Berry. Honoring his last request, there will be no services held.
