Gary Kenneth Sorenson

Gary K. Sorenson, 66, of Goose Creek, died February 9, 2015. Born in Santa Maria, CA, he was the son of the late Gilbert and Doris Carry Sorenson and husband to Kathleen M. Sorenson. Gary served in the United States Navy for twenty seven years, retiring as a Master Chief and also retired from BAE Systems as an Engineering Technician. He was a lifetime member of Goose Creek Fleet Reserve, Branch 269 and VFW Post 2521, Santa Maria, CA and a member of Goose Creek American Legion Post 166. Gary served as secretary of Goose Creek Fleet Reserve. He loved music, playing guitar, taking pictures, reading and his dogs, Sasha, Nikki, Toby and Carolina. He is survived by his wife of thirty nine years, Kathleen Sorenson; two sons, Kenneth Sorenson and Kevin Sorenson, both of Goose Creek; daughter, Karen Sorenson of Goose Creek; brother, Chris Sorenson and wife Carol of Arizona; sister, Annette Sorenson of California; special brother, Robert Lopez of Goose Creek. Gary is also survived by his sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, many nieces, nephews and close friends. A memorial service will be held Sunday, February 15, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the Goose Creek Fleet Reserve, Branch 269, 99 Wisteria Road, Goose Creek, SC 29445.
