Gary Dennis Bayless, 80, of Goose Creek, SC, passed away on Friday, March 24, 2023 with his loving wife Besy by his side.
Gary was born on September 12, 1942, a son of the late Lloyd E Bayless and Edna M Russell Bayless.
Gary loved to travel and sightsee all over the world. He joined the US Navy immediately following high school graduation. His first assignment was in Vietnam in 1965 as a Navy medic where he worked alongside Marines in battle. He served on the USS Ranger 61 and was deployed all over the Pacific and Mediterranean Seas. Gary served for 20 years in the Navy and received numerous accommodations. After retiring from the Navy, he worked for Robert Bosch as a machine operator for 18 years where he retired. He then took a part-time job in the Charleston Port working on cruise ships. Being a man who could not sit still he took part in household duties and especially enjoyed cooking for his wife Besy.
Gary is survived by his wife of 46 years, Besy Bayless and a son Allen Bayless of Mount Pleasant, SC. Gary has one granddaughter Kaili Bayless. He has two brothers, Lloyd Bayless and Terry Bayless. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Gary requested to be buried at sea in the Pacific Ocean. The burial will take place on a Navy Carrier in the Pacific at a later date.
