Berkeley Frank 'Kirby' Bond, 67, of Summerville, passed away on May 1, 2015. Kirby was born on October 24, 1947, in Brownsville, Texas, a son of the late Kate Peacock Bond and Alfred Francis Bond. Kirby was a Marine in the United States Marine Corp, serving in Vietnam. He recently retired from Charleston-Dorchester Mental Health Center, having served over 40 years. He was a dedicated Civil Servant, passionate about serving those who struggled through life. He loved life and living to the fullest, enjoying his friends and family. Kirby loved music, and learning and sharing his knowledge with others. He had a wonderful sense of humor. Everyone has a story about how Kirby made them laugh. Kirby was a volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House and lived there for many years with his wife, Barbara. Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Barbara Scott Bond of Summerville, one daughter, Lora Franks and her husband, Kevin of Summerville, one grandson, Brendan Franks of Charleston, and one granddaughter, Amanda Franks of Summerville. He leaves behind many friends who are like family to him. He also leaves behind a beloved dog, Cooper. The family will receive friends from 7-9 pm, Monday, May 4, 2015 in the chapel of McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, 869 St. James Avenue, Goose Creek, SC. A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, May 5, 2015, at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, Goose Creek Chapel.
