Frank Elma Summers, Jr., 90, of Moncks Corner, passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2016. He was born in Mobile, Alabama to the late Frank and Ruth Summers, Sr. Frank was a veteran of World War II (U.S. Navy) as well as the Korean and Vietnam Wars while serving in the U.S. Air Force until 1969. Upon his last retirement in 1985, Frank was the Facilities Manager for St. Francis Hospital on Calhoun Street. He thoroughly enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, and gardening. Frank, or better known as Papaw, was the beloved patriarch of his family and will be dearly missed. Frank was predeceased by his loving wife and companion of 58 years, Nellie “Jeane†Jones Summers. Survivors include a sister, Bettie Ruth Summers Williamson, a brother, Charles Sidney Summers, both of Mobile, AL, his sons, Frank “Skip†(Doris) Summers, III of Yonges Island and David (Debra) Summers Sr. of Goose Creek; grandchildren Jason (Lisa) Summers, Dana Jeane (Jim) Kernodle, Anna (Andrew) Duffy, Laura (Tyler) Bax, David Summers, Jr, and Christopher (Jackie) Summers; great grandchildren Elizabeth and Bryce Kernodle, Collier and Abram Summers, Talon Summers, and Chloe Cullen. The family will receive friends Saturday, April 9, 2016 at 10:00 am at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, Goose Creek Chapel.
