Francis Bulkeley "Bucky" Weston Jr., 76 of Charleston, South Carolina, passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2024.

Bucky was born on May 15, 1948 in Charleston, South Carolina, to the late Francis Bulkeley and Gurine Rosina (Pettersen) Weston. The family later moved to New Orleans, Louisiana where he joined the DAK Fraternity. He maintained the friendships of many members throughout his life. Reunions were always a highlight

Bucky was in the U.S. Air Force from 1968-1972, stationed in Thailand.

On June 3, 1972, Bucky and Valerie Scheerhoorn were united in marriage. They settled in Pasadena, California where they lived for 9 years before moving to Charleston, South Carolina in 1981 to experience the “other” ocean.

Bucky loved to travel and all sports, especially The Dodgers and Washington (now Commanders). He ziplined with his nephews and brother, and the stories are still being told. He dabbled in bowling, darts, volleyball, roller hockey, and most adventurous was his skydiving experience which he shared with his brother. Golf was a constant and played as often as he could. To keep up with the times, he enjoyed video gaming which he claimed kept him young in mind and heart. He played late nights with his nephews when possible. Topping it all off was his love of music whether it was listening to it, recording it, going to concerts or live venues. He also taught himself to play bass and any instrument his long-time best buddy built for him.

He participated as a Big Brother and was a devoted member of the Lutheran Church of The Redeemer.

Bucky is preceded in death by his parents, Francis B. Weston, Sr. and Gurine Rosina Weston.

Bucky is survived by his wife of 52 years, Valerie (Scheerhoorn) Weston, sister Susan Mays (Terry), brother John “Skip” H. Weston (Anne), 4 nephews (3 are godsons), 3 nieces and 12 great grands.

A family Celebration of Life is being planned for a later date to honor and remember Bucky.
