Frances Ilda Chappell (better known as Frankie) of Goose Creek, SC passed away on January 27, 2021. She was 84 years old.
Frankie was born on December 26,1936 in Lebanon, Oregon, to Joseph Alphonse Benoit and Florence Pearl Bevier.
She was a wonderfully gifted Artist, who was entirely self-taught. Throughout the years, she learned Sewing, Crochet and Embroidery. She designed and crafted handbags, clothing, jewelry and dolls. Frankie specialized in Oil and Charcoal painting, while also dabbling in Acrylic. (Though she'd be quick to tell you that Acrylic was not her favored Medium, as it often dried too quickly and didn't allow for the shadowing techniques she was fond of with Oil and Charcoal) She possessed incredible talent in Egg Decorating, winning numerous awards as well as an invitation to the White House to meet Laura Bush in 2006.
When Frankie wasn't creating, she could often be found in her greenhouse and surrounding gardens, nurturing her plants. Much like her Art, her plants were a supreme form of self-expression.
She found joy in the beauty of the every day and sought to capture that whenever possible, whether in her Art, Gardening or through her love of Photography.
She is survived by her husband, Leon Chappell, seven children (Bill, David, Raychell, Ray, Christy, Gwen & Debbie), her brother Joe and his wife Debbie, fifteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
