Florence Marie O’Brien, 92, of Mt. Pleasant, SC entered into Eternal Rest on Friday, February 27th, 2015 She was born on Wednesday, April 26th, 1922 in Norman, OK. Her father, Roy E. Lynn, was an early pioneer riding in a covered wagon with his parents, to stake a homestead claim in the last territory opened to settlers in the United States. Her mother, Florence Birch Lynn, a nurse from Kentucky met her father in the Army, where they both were serving in WWI. Florence spent her early school years in Ashland, KS and attended Texas State College for Women in Denton, TX. She served as a secretary for the Navy Department during WWII, and later for The Advertising Council and a Congressman from Massachusetts. She adored her association with the Charleston Community Band, and formerly with the Charleston Symphony Orchestra League. Florence enjoyed adventure, loved to travel and visit places out of the country. She was “thankful for Christian faith, love of family, friends, and musicâ€. She was preceded in death by her dedicated parents, Florence Birch and Roy Lynn; her loving husband, Joseph O’Brien; and her younger brother, Jere Dean. A Celebration of Life will be held at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, 1520 Rifle Range Road, Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464, on Saturday, March 21, 2015 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Andy Boyer officiating.
