F Beaven 'Bev' Ennis

Francis Beaven Ennis, 85, of Johns Island, SC, passed away on Sunday, October 19, 2014. Bev was born on Thursday, September 12, 1929, in Long Branch, NJ a son of the late Blanid McGrady Ennis and the late Dr. William Ennis. He attended Brooklyn Prep and graduated from the University of Virginia. He served in the US Army in Korea. After the army, Bev joined Compton Advertising Agency and worked on many Proctor and Gamble brands. Following that, he joined Colgate Palmolive and became assistant director of the English subsidiary. Upon leaving Colgate, he started his own consulting company and focused on developing marketing and training programs for consumer packaged companies. Bev enjoyed golfing, reading, collecting books, ballet, symphony, theater and traveling the world. His family remembers him as a loving husband who enjoyed an active life. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by two brothers: William Ennis, Jr. and James J. Ennis; and two sisters, Maureen Ennis Bettman and Gail Ennis Tripodi. Bev is survived by his wife of 61 years, Virginia Donald Ennis of Johns Island, SC; four sons: Timothy Ennis and his wife, Hailan Wang, of Jupiter, FL; Peter Ennis and his wife, Laura Ellman, of Pittsburgh, PA; Christopher Ennis and his wife, Kathleen, of Cream Ridge, NJ; and David Ennis and his wife, Laura Shelton, of Morristown, NJ; nine grandchildren: Xiaoyi Yi, Sam Ennis, Jesse Ennis, Molly Ennis, Regan Ennis, Connor Ennis, Caitlin Ennis, Christina Ennis and Katie Ennis; and two sisters, Blanid Scott of Princeton, NJ and Sheelagh Rabo of Armonk, NY. A memorial mass will be held on Friday, October 24, 2014, at 11:00am, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 3871 Betsy Kerrison Parkway Johns Island, SC 29455.
