Eugen F. Danielson

Eugen (Gene) Frederik Danielson, 79 of Seabrook Island, SC, passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2022. Born on June 22, 1943 in New York, NY to Mildred and Gustav Danielson.

Gene graduated from the MacMurray College, in Jacksonville, IL, where he majored in physics and minored in theology. Gene was an active and proud member of Saint Peter’s Church in New York City. He lived most of his life in Manhattan and loved all things New York. Gene loved and truly enjoyed his work whether it was for a brief time in the Army, then IBM or in retirement at the Home Depot. He loved to be at work and to talk with everyone, he never met a stranger that didn’t leave as a friend and could make everyone laugh. He also loved sharing funny stories from work with everyone. His whole life - and more so in retirement - Gene read enthusiastically about all matters concerning the brain, American history and he loved and followed all matters of space and NASA. His passion for music was every day, everywhere and of course the louder the better!

Gene always spoke with such pride of his beloved wife Jocelyne who had an amazing career with the United Nations, and his daughter Sandrine who has a career in architecture and construction. Anyone Gene met knew his family. In retirement, his grandchildren became the surprise loves of his life, and Gabriel and Olivia could not get enough of their “Gene.” Together they would build wooden toy kits where he enjoyed teaching them how to use all different types of tools. Gabriel would love to go fishing at the lakes on Seabrook Island and feed the birds with Gene in his yard. Gene loved and interacted with his dogs Dylan who has crossed the rainbow bridge and Miles who will continue to miss him each day along with his grand-dog Cash; although they were more his bonus children than pets.

Gene is preceded in death by his mother Mildred, father Gustav and younger brother Roy.

He is survived by his wife, Jocelyne Danielson; daughter, Sandrine Danielson (Jared Fisher); brother, Bertil Danielson and his beloved grandchildren, Gabriel and Olivia.

The family has decided to hold a celebration of life at a later date to share memories, love and come together to honor Gene’s life.
