Ernestine L Capitan, 98, of Summerville, South Carolina passed away on Thursday, June 22, 2017.
She was born on October 28, 1918 in Charleston, South Carolina, daughter of the late Dora Milligan Bunch and the late William Bunch.
Ernestine retired from the Commissioners of Public Works, after working at Southern Bell for many years. She enjoyed gardening and needlework. She was a life-long member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Besides her parents, Ernestine is predeceased by her husband of 17 years, John Joseph Capitan, Sr; three brothers: Harold Linwood Bunch, William James Bunch, Jr. and Warren Eugene Bunch; one sister, Elizabeth Frances Wilson; and son-in-law, David Arthur “Ikey” Jenkins.
She is survived by her daughters: Susan Darby and her husband, Ron, of Franklin, NC and Catherine Jenkins of Charleston, SC; and her son, Joe Capitan and his wife, Sherry, of Piedmont, SC; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A funeral mass will be held at 9:00 AM, on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 888 King St, Charleston, South Carolina, 29403. Burial will follow at Bethany Cemetery, Charleston, SC.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
