Ernest P. Sanders

Ernest P. Sanders, (87), of Hollywood, SC, husband to Gail Sanders (Ahrens) of 61 years, entered into eternal rest on March 26, 2022, surrounded by his family.

Born on December 31, 1934 in Yonges Island, SC, Ernest was a son of the late Thomas Clark Sanders and Mary Elizabeth Smoak Sanders.

Ernest graduated from St. Paul’s High School in 1953. He was a member of the Beta Club and Future Farmers of America. Ernest was in the band and played on the basketball team. He enjoyed fishing, waterskiing and camping. He loved spending time with his family.

Besides his parents, Ernest is preceded in death by his brothers, Tommy Sanders and Belton Sanders and one sister, Mary Clark Johnson.

Ernest is survived by his loving wife, Gail Sanders; daughters, Beth (Robert) Sears and Mary (Jeff) Wachowski; grandchildren: Wes (Courtney) Sears, Andrew (Brie) Sears, Amanda (Sean) Wachowski and Michael Wachowski; and great grandchildren: Ahren Sears, Kaylee Maroney, Peyton Sears,Lizzie Sears and Sage Sears

The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 31, 2022 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, West Ashley.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, April 1, 2022 at Christ Church in Adams Run, SC. Burial will follow at Christ-St. Paul’s Episcopal Church Cemetery.
