Else Doris (Glock) McNally, 86, of James Island, SC, passed away on Saturday, December 14th, 2024.
Born on June 18th, 1938, in Heidelberg-Kirchein, Germany she was the daughter of the late George and Martha Glock.
Else's journey in life led her to the United States, where she became a proud citizen on May 24th, 1963, recognized and congratulated by Senator Strom Thurmond and L. Mendel Rivers. She was affectionately known as “Oma” and was the matriarch of the family. She was always there to give support and advice whenever needed. Her yard was a testament to her green thumb, and she loved to spend countless hours nurturing her plants, bringing beauty and tranquility to her surroundings. She was also very artistic, creating beautiful work with ceramics. They are displayed throughout her home as a reminder of how talented she was.
In addition to her parents, Else is preceded in death by her brother Egon Glock, and her two sons, Patrick and David McNally. She is survived by her loving husband of 68 years, William “Bill” McNally, daughter Linda McNally Bridges, son-in-law, Jeff Bridges, daughter-in-law, Jennifer McNally, sister Gertrude Stieler, granddaughters, Jessica McNally, Madison White (Patrick Urick), and Trinity McNally, grandson, Tanner McNally, three great-grandchildren, Owen, Olive and, Michael, as well as several beloved nieces and nephews throughout Germany and the United States.
There will be a visitation at McAlister-Smith Funeral and Cremation at McAlister-Smith Funeral and Cremation, 347 Folly Road, Charleston, S.C., starting at 10:00 AM. A graveside service to honor Else's life will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery on December 20, 2024, at 12:30 PM, where family and friends will gather to reflect on her remarkable legacy.
Her absence in our lives will be missed beyond measure, and we will be forever grateful to God for her presence and influence in our lives. Let us remember her with smiles for the love and beauty she brought into this world.
