Elizabeth Scurry Schneider

Elizabeth Scurry Schneider, (Libby to friends) 95 of James Island, SC passed away on Sunday, August 7, 2022.

Elizabeth was born on April 16, 1927 in Lake City, SC. She was the Daughter of the late Maggie Parrott Scurry and Monroe Daniel Scurry.

Elizabeth is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Carl V. Schneider, Sr, a brother Odell Scurry and a sister Roberta Coker.

Elizabeth retired after 27 years as a counselor at the South Caroline Rehabilitation Department. She was a charter member of James Island Baptist Church. She enjoyed history, quilting, gardening, reading and traveling.

Elizabeth is survived by sons Carl (Debbie)Schneider of Hanson, KY, and David (Barbara) Schneider of Awendaw, SC, daughters Deborah (James) Walker of Yonges Island, SC, and Pamela (Walter) Blackwood of Crystal Beach, FL. Five grandchildren Brad Schneider, Kevin Schneider, Stephanie Weaver, Bryan Walker and David Schneider, Jr. Fourteen great grandchildren Corbin Schneider, Brooklyn Cartonia, Liam Schneider, Noah Schneider, Maddox Schneider, Miles Schneider, Walker Jack Weaver, Judson Carl Walker, Dylan Schneider, Kyleigh Schneider, Sarah Villafane, Jake Villafane, Madi Villafane, Vinnie Martinelli.

A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at 10:00am at Live Oak Memorial Gardens, 3093 Ashley River Road, Charleston, SC 29414 with Rev. Steven H. Wilkins officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: The Village at Summerville, 201 W 9th N St, Summerville, SC 29483.

The family would like to thank longtime friends Steve and Sarah Brush, and the staff at Brush Company, who have always been there for our mom. The James Island Baptist Church ladies (you know who you are), and her many friends through the years. We also want to thank the staff at The Village at Summerville and MUSC Hospice at Home by BAYADA for their compassionate care of our mother.
