Elizabeth “Betty” French Youmans, of Goose Creek, South Carolina passed away November 2, 2017. She was born on January 31, 1935 in Montgomery, Alabama to Horace and Suzanne French. After graduating high school and attending FSU she married a sailor in the U.S. Navy and had two children. As a military wife for 24 years she led an adventurous life traveling to duty assignments all over the world with her family. After her husband retired from the U.S. Navy they settled in Pensacola, FL. “Betty” LOVED watching football and had a special admiration for Peyton Manning. Her favorite college football team were the Auburn Tigers.
Survivors include a daughter, Debra and son in law, John Tormanen; two step-granddaughters, Tristin Rausch and Jessica Tormanen; a brother, Edgar and sister in law, Pat French as well as several nieces and nephews and step grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Horace and Suzanne French; husband, Charles “Gene” Youmans and son, Wesley Youmans.
The family will receive friends for a memorial service on Tuesday, November 7, 2017, 2:00 pm at Cypress Place, 205 Midland Parkway, Summerville, SC 29485.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or ASPCA
