Eileen Mulvihill Beckett, 83, of Mount Pleasant, SC, formerly of Peabody, MA and Punta Gorda, FL, entered into eternal rest Friday, April 12, 2019 at her residence; with her loving husband, Harry, at her side.
Eileen moved to Peabody from Somerville in 1960. There she lived with her husband of 65 years and together raised their five children, Debbie Garagliano and her husband Paul, Wendy, Don and his wife Janice, Patti Amato and her husband Paul, and Rick.
She was a devoted grandmother to Marc, Nikki, Jonathan, Brandon, Ashley, Chris, Tom, April, Kevin and Drew. She also leaves behind her brother-in law, Paul Beckett, several great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Eileen was especially close to her niece Kathy Gee of Reading, MA and Lynda Mini of Peabody, MA her friend of 59 years.
Eileen loved being near her family but didn't like the long cold winters, so in 2006 she and Harry relocated to Punta Gorda, FL. They enjoyed exploring Florida. When not exploring, Eileen was off playing mahjong with her new friends. Eileen had a keen interest in antiquing, sewing, and decorating. Eileen's wishes were to be cremated and remain with Harry. Eileen also wished everyone to live life as she did “always have a smile and a kind word ready.”
Arrangements entrusted to McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, Mt Pleasant, 1520 Rifle Range Road Mt Pleasant, South Carolina, 29464, 843-884-3833.
