FCCM Command Master Chief Eddie Reynolds (ret) passed away Nov. 26 at his home in Ladson, SC after a long illness. He was the loving husband to his wife of 58 years, MaryJo (Cunliff) Reynolds.
He was born in Danville, VA, the youngest of nine children, and the last survivor of them. He joined the Navy at 18, working as a fire controlman, and retired in 1988 after 23 years. After retiring from the Navy, he worked at the Ralph H. Johnson VA Hospital in Charleston, SC as Network Administrator, where he worked until retiring after 23 years.
An avid hunter, taxidermist and ammunition collector, he and his wife MaryJo worked together for several years after his VA retirement, fueling his passion for his cartridge collecting. He was considered an expert on firearms and ammunition.
In addition to his wife MaryJo, Eddie is survived by two children: Mary Catherine Schaub (Cathy) and John R. Reynolds. His oldest child, Anne R. Fehrle, died in 2020. He had nine grandchildren: Stephanie Todd, James Schaub, Christopher Schaub, Katherine Mannino, Andrew Witcher, Taylor Ballance, Carrie Craven, Jennifer Reynolds and Patty Gunther who died in 2012, and four great grandchildren Serenity, Isabelle, Darwin and Iris.
Visitation and receiving of friends will be held at 4pm Tuesday, Dec. 3 at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home in Goose Creek. Funeral services will immediately follow at 5pm. Interment will be 1:oo PM on Thursday December 5, at Beaufort National Cemetery, 1601 Boundary Street, Beaufort, SC 29902, with full military honors.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly request that memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org/donate) or to the Wounded Warriors Project (https://support.woundedwarriorproject.org).
