Donald Karl Senn (1941-2025)

Sandy Run, South Carolina - It is with deep sorrow that Mrs. Sondra Senn and her family announce the death of Sondra's husband, Karl "Bo" Senn, 83, on January 24, 2025.

Karl and his twin brother, the late Ronald Kurt "Pete" Senn, were born on April 20, 1941 to the late William Jackson Senn and Emmie Louise Clowney, in Columbia, South Carolina. Karl moved with his family to Orangeburg when he was 7 years old, and would call Orangeburg home.

Karl graduated from Orangeburg High School and went on to spend his freshman year at Clemson University playing basketball before deciding the United States Navy was a better fit at the time. He served 4 years in the Navy, mostly stationed on the U.S.S. Lafayette. Upon completion of his military service, Karl attended and graduated with honors from the University of South Carolina with a B.S. in Business Administration.

Karl lived a full and rich life, with a lot of time spent on the golf course and in the woods. He particularly liked to teach the younger generation how to hunt, and he approached the sport with a precision and respect that set him apart. He maintained the highest standards for both skill and ethics, with a reverence for nature and a firm belief in the responsibility that comes with each hunt. In golf, hunting, and all aspects of his life, he instilled in those around him a deep appreciation for the craft and the importance of doing it right.

Karl lived with integrity, always striving to be helpful to others and to do the right thing. It was his integrity that guided him through life and earned him the respect of those who had the privilege of knowing him. He was a proud husband, father, grandfather, and friend who leaves behind a legacy of kindness, hard work, and unwavering support for those he cared about. His legacy will forever be shaped by the exacting standards he held not only for himself, but the world around him.

Karl is survived by his wife Sondra Senn of Sandy Run; daughter Sandy Senn (Rande Lane) of Charleston; daughter Karlen Senn of Columbia; granddaughters Brooklyn O'Shea (Ian) of Charleston, and Eloise Senn of Columbia; grandson Jacob Uricchio of Charleston; nieces Jeannie Figueroa (Ray), Michelle Eargle, Emmy Matson (Bill) and Mardi Senn; nephew Michael Senn (Caroline); and special family members Louise Bradley, Dr. Bob and Bobbie Varn, and Debbie Witalis. He was predeceased by his parents, his brothers, Gene "Barry" and Ronald Kurt "Pete", as well as his daughter Emma "Ansley" Senn.

His loss is felt deeply, but his example will live forever in our hearts. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 29th, 2025 from 1:00 - 2:00 PM at Beulah United Methodist Church in Sandy Run. The funeral will follow the visitation where we will remember and honor the extraordinary man that he was. A graveside service will be held after the funeral at Penn Branch Cemetery in North, South Carolina. In lieu of flowers, the family recommends consideration of a donation to the Alzheimer's Association - South Carolina Chapter.

Arrangements have been entrusted to McAlister-Smith Funeral and Cremation, 200 State Street, West Columbia, SC 29169, (803) 999-5015.
