Donald P. Boyd

Donald Poynton Boyd, 97, of Mt. Pleasant, SC entered into eternal rest with his family by his side on Wednesday, August 30, 2017.
He was born on June 10, 1920 in Philadelphia, PA to the Late Roy Martin Boyd and the Late Marguerite Poynton Boyd.
Donald was a graduate of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, a Veteran of WWII who retired as a Major from the U.S. Army. After a lifelong career in Business he retired as Vice President of Hammermill Paper Co., was a Vice President and Member of the Board of Directors of the National Association of Purchasing Management, and former member of the Executive Board of the Pulp Producers Association of the American Paper Institute. Donald was listed for 20 years in Who’s Who in Commerce and Industry and he served as an Adjunct Professor of Business at the Pennsylvania State University. He served as a Lay Minister, a member of the Choir and of the Vestry of Christ Church in Mt. Pleasant. His family will remember him as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend.
He is survived by his loving four daughters, Mary (Joseph) Palascak, of Cincinnati, OH, Leslie (Keith) Karlsson, of Raleigh, NC, Peggy (Dave) Scypinski, of Mt. Pleasant, SC, and Christina (Ralph) Sanders, of Mt. Pleasant, SC; nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; and many loving nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his loving wife of 69 years, Gertrude S. Boyd.
The family will receive friends on September 1, 2017 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, 1520 Rifle Range Rd., Mt. Pleasant, SC, 29464.
The Funeral Services will be September 2, 2017 at 10:00 AM at Christ Church, 2304 N Hwy 17, Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina, 29464.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to Christ Church, 2304 N Hwy 17, Mt. Pleasant, SC, 29464.
