Donald Louis Saali, 72, of Moncks Corner, passed away March 11, 2014. Don was born August 4, 1941 in Lodgehole, NE, a son of the late Louis J. Saali and Regina Mary Hollerback Saali. Mr. Saali retired from the Unites States Navy as a machinist, having served during the Vietnam Conflict. After retirement, he worked at the post office in North Charleston, and then for the city of Goose Creek, maintaining the vehicle fleet for the police department. He belonged to the Moncks Corner VFW and the American Legion. Don enjoyed fixing cars. His family remembers him as a patient and loving man. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Alice Saali and Patricia Saali; one brother, Joseph Saali. Survivors include one daughter, Angela Gash of Moncks Corner; one grandson, Shawn Gash of Moncks Corner; two granddaughters, Mandi Gaskins of Moncks Corner and Katie Gash of Moncks Corner; two great grandchildren, Rylan Merrithew and Brentley Bertram and three brothers, Larry Saali of Texas, Billy Saali of Nebraska and Arnold Saali of Arizona. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 29, 2014 in MCALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, GOOSE CREEK CHAPEL, 869 St. James Ave., Goose Creek.
