Donald John Lazar, Ph. D., 73, of Johns Island, SC entered into eternal rest on Saturday, September 1, 2018.
Born during the emerging Baby Boom on January 15, 1945 in Youngstown, OH, he was an anomaly as the only child of the late John Lazar and the late Carolyn Stosic Lazar.
Don continued flouting convention with an eclectic career path ranging from psychologist, gemologist, small business owner, and thoroughbred racehorse breeder. A voracious reader, he was well versed in business and current events. Having an opinion on just about everything, he found an outlet as a prolific Amazon reviewer after his retirement. Once his children were grown, he enjoyed spoiling his dogs with potato chips regularly, and sushi and caviar on special occasions.
He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Mary Clay Pringle Lazar of Charleston, SC; daughters: Deborah Kresal (Steven) of Tuscon, AZ and Andrea Lazar (Matthew) of Carrollton, TX; sons: Nikolai Lazar (Renee) of Ocala, FL and Derek Lazar (Lindsay) of Las Vegas, NV; seven grandchildren: Jonathan Kresal, Orion Lazar-Tarnowski, Jackson Lazar, David Lazar, Arabella Lazar, Hudson Lazar and Hayden Lazar.
The family will receive friends on Friday, September 7, 2018 from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home West Ashley.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, September 8, 2018 at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home West Ashley. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, James Island, SC.
