Donald Francis Glover, 67 of Charleston, SC, passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2023.
Born on September 25, 1955, in Clovis, NM, he was a son of Barbara Glover and the late Dr. Douglas Glover. Dr. Glover adopted Don and two of his brothers in 1959, following their birth father's death and mother's remarriage that same year.
Don grew up in Marietta, Georgia, and attended Marietta High School. He spent his youth with his two older brothers and best friend, Ron. The four of them spent their time fishing, hiking, camping, and causing occasional mischief. Don and Ron raised their children together in Marietta, and the two families enjoyed Sedita/Glover Christmas every winter. Don was married to his high school sweetheart, Katie, for just over ten years, and they shared three children - Megan, Doug, and Chad. Doug died in 1996. Don fell in love with Charleston while in town opening a restaurant, and he moved to Charleston after his daughter was married in 2005.
Don worked in the service and hospitality industry for over 50 years. He was proud to have held every position possible in restaurants and spent the last 14 years as chef and property manager for the Diocese of Charleston. He was dedicated to the Catholic church, the Diocese of Charleston, and particularly to Bishop Robert Gugliemone.
Anyone who knew Don knew that he believed in living life to the fullest. He adored his children and grandchildren, and he approached all he did with them with love and humor. To know Don Glover was to know his wit and sarcasm.
Besides his birth and adoptive fathers, Don is preceded in death by his brother Brad and his son Doug.
Don is survived by his daughter Megan, her husband AJ, and their children, Ella and Sullivan. He is survived by his son Chad, his wife Kim, and their daughters Preston and Ada. He is survived by his brothers, Bill, Geoff, and Bob, and his mother, Barbara.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:30 pm on Monday, February 27th at the Chapel of the Holy Family, the Diocese of Charleston, 900 Orange Grove Road, Charleston, SC 29407. A reception will follow at the Assembly Hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Robert Gugliemone Catholic Education Fund, a cause that was incredibly important to Don. 900 Orange Grove Road, Charleston, SC 29407.
