Dolores "Dee" Romaine (90), passed away peacefully on Dec. 1 in Mt. Pleasant, SC, surrounded by her loving family. She was born Dolores Joan Witulski on April 11th, 1930 in Jersey City, NJ to the late Edmund & Stephanie Witulski (nee Gorski). Dolores is predeceased by her brother Edmund Z. Witulski.

Dolores is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Gerald J. Romaine Sr.; her daughter Susan and her husband Gregory, daughter Margaret and her husband Kent, son Gerald Jr. and his wife Brenna; her grandchildren Katelyn (John David) and Matthew & numerous nephews and nieces.

Dolores graduated from Montclair State University where she was very popular and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. She married her husband in 1953. They settled in Hackensack, NJ where she initially began teaching, but then later worked as a customer service representative for the New York City Telephone Company. She began raising a family in 1955 when her daughter Susan was born and devoted the rest of her life to being a mother. Not long after 2nd daughter Margaret was born, they moved to Brick NJ, where the family remained for the next 18 years until their youngest child, Gerald Jr. went to college. Dolores and Gerald moved to Sun City West, AZ in the 80s, and in 2002, Dolores and her husband moved to Murrells Inlet, SC to be closer to their grandchildren.

Dolores had an extremely happy marriage and life, and did extensive travelling which she enjoyed tremendously. In Sun City West she was very active participating in a rhythm tap group & bowling leagues. She was an avid reader who loved to spend hours at any, and all libraries. Although she suffered from severe macular degeneration during the last decade, Dolores was able to continue enjoying books through audio tapes.

There will be a memorial mass at St. Michael Catholic Church in Garden City on Wed. December 16th at 10AM, followed by a small Committal Ceremony at the columbarium. All attendees will be required to wear a mask and maintain proper social distance.
In lieu of flowers the family requests you make a donation in Dolores' name to either American Macular Degeneration Foundation (AMDF), American Stroke Association (ASA), or Kitten Rescue (Los Angeles, CA).
