Dolores B. vevoda

Ramona Dolores Bruce Vevoda, known to all who knew and loved her as Dolores B. Vevoda, passed from this world in her home on November 6, 2018 at the age of 86.

Born in Kingston, Jamaica in 1932 and classically educated into her adulthood. She met and married her first husband Michael F. Lloyd in a military wedding in 1956. After moving to Bridge North, England with their first child Richard, they had four more children: Christine, Steven, Ian and Andrew before moving to Queens, NY in 1965.

As a single mother, raising five children, Dolores started a successful career at PF Peddinhaus where she met her now deceased husband, Ernest Vevoda. She succeeded in turning a two person office into what today is a multi-million dollar company currently employing 650 people. She retired in 1993 after 25 years of service.

After retirement she and Ernest moved to Charleston, SC. She spent time enjoying horticulture, flower arranging, antiquing, painting, sewing, volunteering, home making, traveling and reading. Her passion for the outdoors showed in her beautiful gardens. If asked, she would always prefer to sit in her yard with all the loveliness around her. She was quick to welcome visitors into her home and share the beauty she created with a big heart and was quick with a smile and a hug, she would generously lend her time and ear to everyone she met. She made friends everywhere along her path through this life and it was difficult to miss the way her poise, grace, charm and strength earned her respect from those she met.

Dolores is survived by four of her children, nine grandchildren and soon to be three great grandchildren. Also three sisters. Richard and his sons: Kyle and Erik; Christine and her husband William, their sons Jason and his wife Fern and William; Steven and his sons: Myles and Stuart and his wife Amanda and their son Mason. Grandson Devin and his daughter Leona and grandchildren Taylor and Austin. His sisters Lupe, Linda and Hortense.
