Derrick O'Neal Robertson Sr.

Mr. Derrick Robertson, 57, of Goose Creek, SC, passed away on Thursday, February 15, 2024. 

Born on July 13, 1966, in Reynolds, GA, Derrick was the son of the late Annie Gray Etheridge and Willie Robertson Sr. 

Derrick grew up in Thomaston, GA, and Raleigh, NC. He attended and graduated in 1985 from Garner High School and attended Winston Salem State University.

Derrick then went on to join the US Navy at the age of 20 and served as a Torpedoman's Mate 3rd Class on the USS Simon Lake and the USS Sierra. TM3 Robertson received the National Defense Medal for his active service during the Gulf War. In 1991, he received an honorable discharge. 

After serving in the US Navy, Derrick worked a few different occupations, but he was most passionate about autobody painting. He loved playing basketball and watching sports.

He also was the caregiver to his late mother Annie Etheridge before her passing.

Derrick was married for 26 years to Gina Robertson and together they raised their three children.

He loved and was loved by many friends and family members. 

Derrick is preceded in death by his mother, Annie Etheridge and aunt, Mary Judd.

Derrick is survived by his loving family: Melissa Wright (Brandon), Candice Robertson, and Derrick Robertson Jr. (Caity) and his grandchildren Kennedy and Elijah Wright. 

He is also survived by his father, Willie Robertson Sr. (Ramona); his siblings: Willie Robertson Jr., China Wagner-Robertson and Jerrod Robertson; nieces and nephews: Torin Robertson, Lenox Robertson, Za'rod Robertson, Z'aliyah Robertson and Za'mir Robertson; aunt, Patricia Williams and his aunt and uncle, Otis and Hallie Mattews. He is also loved and remembered by Chandra Graves (Jerry), Dacia Williams, Larry Gray, Michael Matthews and many more family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at McAlister-Smith Funeral and Cremation, 869 St. James Avenue, Goose Creek, SC 29445.
