Denver Louis Clayton, 82, of Goose Creek, passed away May 16, 2016. Born in Monroe, LA, he was the son of the late Denver and Kay Clayton. Denver served his country for twenty two years in the United States Navy, retired as a Senior Chief Petty Officer. He served in Vietnam where he received two Bronze Stars for Valor, two Purple Hearts, Navy Commendation Medal for Valor and Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry. After his military service he began his career in law enforcement, where he worked for various area agencies, retiring as a Captain from Moncks Corner Police Department. He was a member of the VFW, Berkeley Senior Center and he was a Mason. He is survived by his wife, Dolores Marie Parker Clayton; children, Donnie Clayton (Cheryl) of Walterboro, Patrick Clayton (Kim) of Augusta, Michael Clayton (Marguerite) of Summerville, Lee Clayton (Tracy) of Goose Creek and John Clayton of Goose Creek; siblings, Donnie Clayton, Ronnie Clayton, Lorraine Shoup, Kay Frances Dickson, Carolyn Simpson and Lana Clayton; step children, Renee Honeycutt (Larry) of Summerville, Darryl Parker (Edna) of Goose Creek, Tina L. Bilodeau (Roger) of Summerville; step daughter-in-law, Lori Parker of Goose Creek. Denver is also survived by twenty two grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Daisy Jacqulyn Latham Clayton, sons, Causey Clayton and Allen Clayton; step son, Glenn Parker. Memorial service will be held Thursday, May 19, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in MCALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, GOOSE CREEK CHAPEL. Burial will follow with military honors in Plantation Memorial Gardens, Moncks Corner. The family will receive friends prior to service from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
