Debra Ann Hill

Debra Ann Hill, 62 of Charleston, South Carolina, passed away on Tuesday, June 7, 2022.

Born on April 24, 1960, in Omaha, NE Debra was a loved daughter of the late Audrey Dannecker Leonard and Raymond Leonard.

Debra was a loving mother, wife, sister, aunt, daughter, and best friend. After graduating from WT Woodson High School (Fairfax County, VA) in 1978 she went on to excel academically at Virginia Tech and received a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Marketing in 1982 which was followed by successful careers in communications and legal fields. Debra married George Hill on October 20, 1984, and grew their family with their first child, daughter, Darcy, in 1986. Darcy was followed by Debra and George's son, Andrew in 1988. The family moved to Charleston, SC in 2006. While loving and supporting her family Debra was also an avid rescue dog mom. At the time of her passing, she was enjoying snuggles from her Chihuahua, Gil, and walks with her brindle mix Daisy. She was an active parishioner at Nativity Catholic Church on James Island. In her free time, Debra found joy in talking to her friends and family, searching Folly Beach for shark teeth, tending to her yard and garden, exploring natural Charleston, and just about anything with her husband, children, and friends. As a devoted wife and mother she committed her life to her family, her friends, her church, and her work. All who knew her agree she was a wonderful person to be around, was quick to make you laugh while also being completely willing to help in any way she could. Debra brightened every room she was in with her presence and will be deeply missed by all of her family, friends, and dogs.

Debra is preceded in death by Raymond Leonard (Father), and Audrey Leonard (Mother).

Debra is survived by George Hill (Husband), Darcy Hill (Daughter), Andrew Hill (Son), her sister Barbara Leonard, and her brother Thomas Leonard (brother).

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 23, 2022, from 6:00-8:00 pm at McAlister-Smith Funeral and Cremation, 347 Folly Road, Charleston, SC 29412.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 24, 2022, at 11:30 am at The Church of the Nativity, 1061 Folly Road, Charleston, SC 29412

The burial will be held immediately following at Holy Cross Cemetery, 604 Fort Johnson Road, Charleston, SC 29412.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Pet Helpers - 1447 Folly Road, Charleston, SC 29412.
