David Watson Rodwell Jr., 69, of Charleston, SC entered into eternal rest on Monday, October 10, 2016. He was born on Monday, February 10, 1947 in Raleigh, NC, son of the late Marguerite “Rita†Vinson Rodwell and the late David Watson Rodwell, Sr. of Georgetown, SC. David was a 1965 graduate of Winyah High School of Georgetown, SC and attended USC of Columbia, SC. Through the years, David tried his hand at many things – Palmetto Boys State 1964, USC 1965-1969, Alpha Tau Omega 1965-1969, Rotary Club 1973-1975, Georgetown Cotillion Club 1974, Ducks Unltd. Inc. Com. Chm. 1977-1979, Spon. Com. Chm. 1979-1980, United Way Fund Dr. 1979-1980, Natl. Trustee 1980- 1981, State Operations Chm. 1981, Natl. Ducks Unltd. Inc. Trustee 1981, Honors: SC Ducks Unltd, Palmetto Service Award 1979-1980, Distinguished Service Award 1980. His employment history includes: Hilton Head Interiors, Ltd. VP 1970-1973; Rice House Interiors, Ltd. Owner 1973-1977; Rodwell Pontiac Cadillac, Inc. Owner 1977-1994; McElveen Pontiac, Buick, GMC sales; McElveen Hummer GMC, 1994-2005; Lowcountry Auto Brokers, LLC Owner/Operator 2005-2016. David’s love for life showed in all he did. He enjoyed being outdoors, playing ball with his yellow lab and best bud Baxter, duck hunting, boating, fishing, golfing and sitting behind his desk making a deal. His greatest joy was spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, family and friends. He will be sadly missed by all. Besides his parents, David was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Paul (Ruth Odom) Vinson and his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. William Pryor Rodwell, Sr. He is survived by his loving wife of 12 years, Susan E. Geer-Rodwell, of Charleston, SC; two children: Dr. and Mrs. David W. (Jessie) Rodwell, III of Mt. Pleasant, SC; Mr. and Mrs. James (E. Hagan Rodwell) Kazda of Charleston, SC; stepdaughter, Miss Nicole M. Sevenoaks of Charleston, SC; three grandchildren: Carter, Hadley and Elliott Rodwell of Mt. Pleasant, SC; sister, Sally Ann (Rodwell) Whetstone of Wilmington, NC; two nephews: Mr. and Mrs. Jamey Whetstone and family of Napa, CA and Dr. and Mrs. David Whetstone and family of Nashville, TN. The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 22, 2016, from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home West Ashley Chapel.
