Daniel B. Gentile

Daniel Barney Gentile, 88, of Summerville, South Carolina died, January 24, 2017. Born in Weirton, WV, he was the son of the late Samuel and Rose Frances Gentile and husband to Rose Muscedere Gentile. Daniel worked for A&P Grocery for several years and worked and retired from Weirton Steel. He enjoyed playing golf and was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Steubenville, OH. Daniel and Rose moved to the Del Webb community in 2014 and he has since been active in the Del Webb Veterans Group and Golf Club. He is survived by his wife of sixty one years, Rose Gentile; daughter, Mary Ann Young and husband Mark of Summerville. Daniel is also survived by two grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Mamie Bucci and Florence Morelli. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 26, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home, Goose Creek Chapel. Funeral services will be Friday, January 27, 2017 at 9:00 am in St John The Beloved Catholic Church, 28 Sumter Ave, Summerville, SC. Burial with military honors will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Way, Memphis, TN 38105, www.stjude.org.
