Conrad E Ward Sr.

Conrad E. Ward, Sr., 79 of Summerville, husband to Jette Ward (Frederiksen) for 44 years entered into eternal rest on January 05, 2021, comforted by his wife.

Conrad was born on February 12, 1941 in Durham, North Carolina to the late Lythia Mae (Turner) and Robert Edward Ward.

Conrad served in the army for more than 20 years and spent 13 years overseas in Korea, Vietnam, France, Germany and Belgium. After retirement, Conrad continued working at the Pentagon in the same position, later transferring to the Defense Intelligence Agency. After spending 40 years trying to please his wife with flowers, gifts and gardening in the Washington, DC area, Conrad moved to the warmer climate in Summerville, South Carolina where he made friends with all the neighbors, especially those with dogs. Conrad was always willing to assist fellow veterans and military families to make sure they were aware of the various benefits to which they were entitled. Conrad was a mason and a lifetime member of DAV, The American Legion, VFW and NSRA.

In addition to his wife, Conrad is survived by his daughter Connie Norwood of Durham, North Carolina, his daughter Devonne, his son Conrad E. Ward, Jr. and wife Connie, his granddaughter, Taylor Heida Ward all of Sacramento, California, his grandson Dimitrius Bastiell Ward, wife and 2 great grandsons, his sisters Doris and Shirley, his brothers Lewis and Roger plus numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews

The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at 9:00 AM at McAlister-Smith Funeral Chapel (Goose Creek) The service will be held on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at 10:00 AM at McAlister-Smith Funeral Chapel (Goose Creek). The burial will be held on January 14, 2021 at 1:00 pm at Beaufort National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Conrad's memory may be sent to ASPCA or a charity of your choice.
