Connell Odis 'Connie' Gowder

Connell “Connie” Odis Gowder, 67, of Hanahan, passed away August 3, 2014. Born in Charleston, he was the son of Mary Eloise Gowder and the late George Odis Gowder. He worked for the International Longshoreman Association, Local 1771 for over thirty years. Connie enjoyed working on small motors, boats and Hotrods. He was an avid fisherman and dove and duck hunter. Connie cherished spending time with his family and close friends. He is survived by his two sons, Robert Gowder and wife Jennifer of Summerville and Kenny Gowder and wife Lori of Moncks Corner; three daughters, Nicki Gowder of Pennsylvania, Heather Gowder of North Charleston and Brittany Gowder of Summerville; mother, Eloise Gowder of Moncks Corner; sister, Sheila Briggman and husband Bill of Orangeburg; brother, Donald Gowder and wife Mary Anne of Moncks Corner; five grandchildren, Robert, Jr., Gage, Cody, Trent and Rylan. Connie is predeceased by his father and sister, Barbara Martin. A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 8, 2014 at 7:30 p.m. in MCALISTER-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, GOOSE CREEK CHAPEL.
