Summerville - Franklin " Clay " Tallman, 63 of Summerville, South Carolina, passed away on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at his residence.
Born on November 27, 1958 in Troy, Missouri, Clay was a Son of the late Mildred Tallman (Thurston) and Charles Tallman, Jr. Clay served his country honorably in the United States Air Force and retired after 30 years of service. Following his retirement in 2008, Clay took a Year Off and then he obtained a position in the civil service industry. Clay enjoyed watching Clemson Football, cooking ribs on his grill and spending time with his family. Clay also enjoyed attending Cardinals Baseball Games and the annual fishing trips with his buddies.
Clay is preceded in death by parents, his maternal and paternal grandparents and his sister in law, Vickie Tallman.
Clay is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Valerie Hughes Tallman of Summerville; his daughters, Gabrielle Tallman Franklin and husband, Calvin of Summerville; Allison Clay Tallman of Summerville; his sisters, Suzi Bybee of Kansas City, Missouri, Mary Obenauer of Washington, Missouri, Missy Stevenson and her husband, Tim of Washington, Missouri, Sandy Newbanks of Washington, Missouri and Cathy Peterson and her husband, Ron of Washington, Missouri; his brother, Charles Tallman, III of St. Louis, Missouri. Clay is also survived by numerous members of his extended family. His beloved pets, Ruby (the dog) and Edisto (the cat). But to be really truthful and clear, his favorite cat is Hazel whom has and will maintain a grief process of her own.
A gathering of Clay's family and friends for a time of comfort will be at 1:00 P.M. Monday, June 13, 2022 at the McAlister-Smith Funeral & Cremation Center, 2501 Bees Ferry Road, Charleston, South Carolina 29414. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 P.M. at McAlister-Smith with Celebrant Greg Robertson, officiating. Rite of Committal and Interment with Military Honors will follow services at Live Oak Memorial Gardens, 3093 Ashley River Road, Charleston, SC 29414.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Intrepid Hospice, 2694 Lake Park Drive, 1st and 2nd Floor, North Charleston, SC 29406, (843) 569-3516.
